It's been five years since I last went on a family holiday abroad. Just after we were married, we went on a two week all inclusive holiday to the island of Barbados. I can't really tell you how beautiful it is, but I can try and show you ...
I think I would have a valid argument if I said that barbados holidays were amongst the most beautiful, most relaxing and most luxurious on offer. I know I'm biased but it really is a truly special place.
Whilst we did do a lot of sunbathing, swimming in the pool and sipping cocktails, we also did some amazing activities. I took a helicopter flight over the island which was absolutely breathtaking, and my husband went deep sea fishing - an experience he'll never forget.
The beaches in Barbados are like no other. Even now, I look back at these photos and can hardly believe there are places in the world like this.
These aren't photos from a brochure, they're mine that were taken with my camera phone.
If a camera phone can make a place look this beautiful, imagine what it's like in real life.
It's approximately an 8 hour flight from Manchester to Barbados, but don't let that put you off travelling with children. We flew out there on my son's first birthday and the cabin crew couldn't have been more helpful. Louis was quite a big baby and didn't fit in their sky cots but with the aid of a portable DVD player, lots of snacks and plenty of cuddles the 8 hours flew by (see what I did there!).
Barbados really is the most beautiful place I've ever seen. I'd absolutely love to go back there but it's so expensive. I will get there one day, I am determined.
There are always deals on t'interweb for fancy holidays like Barbados, but even those can be expensive. I think the best bet when pricing up holidays of a lifetime are websites that allow you to compare prices - that inevitably saves you both time and money, resulting in the absolute best holiday deals.
Now I've told you all about my last holiday, I think it's about time I considered booking my next!
